British Superbike hero Jon Kirkham, of Ockbrook, will  carry the Olympic flame as part of its journey to Derby. JK's Olympic Torch Journey/leg is this Friday the 29th. Starting in Bolsover derbyshire, Jon will travel along Station Road (A632) from the Market Place. The Olympic journey will start at approximately 12:06:44, and cover a distance of 0.27 miles!!

DOUBLE world Superbike champion James Toseland has been revealed as the mystery celebrity who will light an Olympic cauldron in Darley Park on Friday.

For weeks, the identity of the final torchbearer on the day the 2012 flame comes to Derby has been kept secret.

But the Derby Telegraph has today revealed it will be the 31-year-old pin-up, who is now an ambassador for Donington Park.

More than 20,000 people are expected to descend on Darley Park to witness Toseland light the cauldron towards the end of a free two-hour stage show, starting at 5.30pm.

The celebration, being broadcast live on BBC1, will include performances from urban pop star Loick Essien and Britain's Got Talent 2010 runners-up Twist and Pulse.
